As the HSS-MAG transitions from a tontine to the much-awaited SACCO, the New Board takes office. They replace the founding members of the board.
On November 12, 2021, the Incoming and Outgoing Board with the presence of the members of the Credit and Audit committees, as well as the management team gathered for a handover ceremony and reflection on the HSS-MAG growth from a tontine to a SACCO.
Members of the new Board were elected by delegates convened at the HSS-MAG October 28, 2021, General Assembly which also approved a resolution of shifting to SACCO.
The incoming Board Members bring a broad range of experience having previously served as members of several institutions’ boards.
The handover ceremony was led by the Chairperson of the Board, Major (Rtd) Jean Damascene GASHEREBUKA who was re-elected as the Board Chair. He thanked outgoing members of the board for their tremendous work and urged the new board to finish what their predecessors already started by guiding the new SACCO to the level of similar SACCOs in the microfinance sector.
Major (Rtd) GASHEREBUKA stressed out that all SACCO’s business should reflect on achieving its dual mission of improving socio-economic conditions of members and retention of health sector staff as it was the main goal from the beginning.
In attendance was also the Director General, Mrs. Claudine Uwambayingabire. She expressed her gratitude to the members of the outgoing board for vital work, collaboration, and desire to modernize HSS-MAG. She also welcomed the new board and called for an even improved collaboration to reach the height that is expected by members of the SACCO.
The new board takes office with the main task of getting the SACCO up and running and general overseeing of the SACCO’s affairs.
The board will be leading the institution with the other two organs in Credit and Audit committees for a term of 3 years.
